CEU TRAININGS (continuing education credits given)

Introduction to the Neurobiology of Trauma Presented by Sunny Lansdale, Ph.D., LPCS Saturday, February 14, 2015 9:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. This training provides a basic introduction to what happens in the body and brain during--and after--a traumatic experience. A review of intervention and treatment approaches will be included. Mental health clinicians, educators, youth workers, CPS caseworkers, medical providers and others working in the field of social services are encouraged to attend. Bring your cases and questions for discussion. CEU Hours: 3 CEU hours for Social Workers, LPCs & LMFT Cost: $40.00 YWCA members; $60.00 non-YWCA members; $25.00 students (with current school ID)

Reading Between the Multicultural Lines: Culture Matters Presented by Maribel Garcia Valls, MPH & Maria Isabel Eguez, MSSW, LMSW Friday, February 27, 2015 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. During this interactive training, participants will learn how their unconscious bias' and assumptions influence their personal filters to view, interpret, and judge themselves and others in personal and workplace settings. Participants also will learn how the cultural differences in language, age, military status, socio-economic status, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, and other life experiences influence the dynamics of cross-cultural into action. Electroconvulsive Therapy & Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation: A Look at Alternative Treatment for Depression & Other Mental Health Conditions Presented by Emily Habermehl, LMSW Friday, March 6, 2015 9:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

This training will provide a general overview of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) as alternative therapies for treatment-resistant depression, anxiety and other mental health diagnoses. The goal of the training is to help mental health professionals gain knowledge of these little-understood treatments, dispel common myths around TMS and ECT, discuss how these treatments work, and understand why they may be an appropriate option for some clients. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP (No continuing education credits given)

Cross-Cultural Conflict Strategies Presented by Paul D. Kraus, D.Min., CPE Saturday, February 28, 2015 9:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

Are you in a conflicting relationship with a family member, a friend, or a co-worker? This workshop will help you understand the origins of conflicts in your significant relationships and what strategies you can use to manage and transform these conflicts. Most, if not all, people we relate to come from diverse origins, i.e., familial and ethnic. Hence, the relational and communication strategies you will learn evolve from cross-cultural perspectives. Bring questions and cases for discussion. No CEU Hours for this professional development workshop. Cost: $40.00 YWCA members; $60.00 non-YWCA members; $25.00 students (with current school ID)
