Economic Self-Sufficiency = Independence: You Can Bank On It! will be presented by Miriam Almanza & Abigail Martinez, Frost Community Representatives, from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be served. This bilingual workshop is open to women and men, and will provide an overview of banking services that will help participants build a positive relationship with a financial institution. A discussion on how to prepare a personal spending plan to decrease spending and increase income will follow. After completing this class, the participants will be able to: *Identify five reasons to use a bank *Describe the steps involved in opening and maintaining a bank account *Identify additional bank services that come with deposit accounts *List the steps for setting financial goals *Track daily spending habits *Prepare a spending plan to estimate monthly income and expenses *Identify spending plan tools to manage bills*
What Are Your Kids Really Doing?: Youth and Current Drug Trends will be presented by the YWCA's Generation YW staff from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Participants are eligible for door prizes and a drawing for a gift card. Register here at http://ywcaaustin.kintera.org/drugtrends. Youth substance use and abuse is a constantly changing field. The media is constantly flowing with ideas on what is popular and what is cool to do. In this 1-hour presentation we will go over current drug trends and issues of drug abuse teaching participants how to be more award of what youth are doing, and offer statistics of drug use on AISD middle schools. Also, we will offer general knowledge on drug use that is beneficial for anyone to know who has children/teenagers.
