Each year, 1.3 million women in the U.S struggle to find support and treatment for postpartum depression and other perinatal mood disorders. This free presentation will include a special screening of the documentary on maternal mental health, Dark Side of the Full Moon, followed by a panel discussion featuring mental health and medical experts, as well as a mother who experienced a perinatal mood disorder. Adolescence is a transitional period of physical and neuro-psychosocial development that usually occurs during the onset of puberty to young adulthood. With these changes, adolescence can be very challenging topography to navigate, and even more so when a traumatic event is added to the landscape. The trauma can be physical, emotional and/or sexual. It can recent or in childhood.

This training for mental health professionals, caseworkers, youth prevent specialists and parents will offer information on how to adapt to the adolescent's growing needs, recognize triggers, and how to positively communicate, including building security with the teen.
